Information on cleaning/care for Camping Dutch Oven

The Oval Dutch Oven is already Preseasoned and ready to use. If you need to bake it again after cleaning, clean the pot with hot water. Then rub it with tasteless, vegetable fat (e.g. coconut fat). Place the Dutch Oven upside down in the oven (or better, outside in a hot kettle grill) for one hour at 200 ° C. Rub in any remaining fat. Complete. Repeat this treatment regularly so that the pores are filled and the pot is optimally protected from rust.

Hot water is sufficient for cleaning - scrub off coarser food residues with a brush. Never use soap or harsh detergents. These destroy the layer of fat and the pot then has to be burned in again (see above). Do not keep leftovers in the Dutch Oven. Remove ashes from the lid and pot immediately after use, as this, in combination with moisture, can cause rust.

How to storage a Cast iron Dutch oven

Grease with good cooking oil, put a sheet of kitchen paper inside and do not close the lid completely. The Dutch Oven can easily withstand longer storage times.
